G2LD helping with 2011 AIA Gala-Viva Houston
For the second time in the last four years, Sarah Gandy has been asked to join the Environment Committee for Houston's AIA Gala. As luck would have it this year's Gala will be held in the "new" City of Houston Central Permitting Center (actually a refurbished rice warehouse slated to achieve LEED Gold), which G2LD has worked on extensively over the last year and a half with Studio Red Architects.
The theme for 2011 is "Viva Houston!", so look for a colorful and festive atmosphere. Hope to see everybody there!

can't go anywhere without
analyzing the lighting. We've
seen it all-the good the bad,

column to share some of the
funniest lighting mishaps.
In this episode we find an
exterior church pendant in
which someone was trying to
create a "best of both worlds"
scenario. And yet they fell short.
Was the high bay fixture already
there but they wanted it to look
more 'churchy'? Was the
decorative pendant there but
somebody thought of a great
way to get more power out of
it? Hard to say, but this hybrid
made us laugh:
